POLISH LABOR SERVICE HISTORY,
SERGEANT JOZEF KOZIEL:

Polish Labor Service documents for Sergeant Jozef Koziel, courtesy of Remy Nacarro

Rémy Nacarro, son of Robert Nacarro, French National who worked at both Trois Fontaines Ammo Depot and at Vassincourt, provides this rare glimpse into the men who formed our security force and often performed other less visible duties within the American Forces community. These photographs are courtesy of Philippe Koziel, son of Josef Koziel:

Here is a picture from Christmas 1962 from Sargeant Jozef Koziel (at my godfather’s family communion). He was living at rue du depot, Revigny sur Ornain. Sometimes he was the driver of the army bus taking the French and American personnel after work or duty to Sermainze, St. Dizier, Bar le Duc, Robert–Espagne, etc.. He was at Trois Fontaine and in the Polish Labor Service. I shall try to send you letter with the roster list of Vassincourt personnel from 1952–1953, medical service and engineers. You may use the photos at the website. Remy.

These orders are early evidence that the Polish Labor Service units were well-–ntergrated into the American army, with one authorizing longivity pay for a group of career labor service men (1967):
